Artist's comment:Tuscany, full of beautiful sunflower hills.
and the story of the sunflower spirit from Greco-Roman mythology are a source of inspiration for this work
Critias loved Apollo, the sun god of Roman mythology, but her love was not reciprocated, she was so transformed into this flower that for eternity she had the ability to admire the sun in the sky. This is represented in the golden color. The bright blue in the center of the sunflower indicates the devotion of the spirit, which shines brightest in the sunlight.
The background palette then connects to the beauty of the earth warmed by the sun, the place of excellence of myth and imagination, and underlines the deep love for the sun, the essential affinity between sunflowers and the sun. It represents energy and beauty. The ancient Greeks attributed divine origins to the birth of many natural phenomena, especially trees, plants and flowers. These are the motifs of the works of Francesco Mazzi.
